With the advent of AI, I’ve been able to delve into the exploration of writing songs for voices outside of myself. To be honest, I was having a difficult time writing songs for me. But because of this new world of going Live, I’ve been able to tap into the stories of others and write for vocals beyond my own, which has helped me a great deal. “When the Room Goes Quiet” was one of those songs. This was written back in May 2026. Honestly, it was an imagined scenario of someone I had met and what I perceived was their circumstances. For a moment, I felt I was in their shoes, and whether I was or wasn’t, it was still a very heartfelt experience.
I hope you enjoy it.

LYRICS — “WHEN THE ROOM GOES QUIET”
[Verse 1]
I can hear the city breathing
Static through another sleepless dawn
Everybody wants a piece of me
But none of them know what’s wrong
I wear my smile like armor plating
Laugh loud enough to hide the ache
But every night behind the screen glow
There’s only so much a man can fake
And then you happened
Like a match inside a locked-up room
Now everywhere I turn
I’m haunted by the thought of you
[Pre-Chorus]
You move like you already know me
Like you can see beneath the skin
And I keep trying not to need you
While letting you further in
[Chorus]
It’s when the room goes quiet
When the lights die down
When the voices disappear
And there’s nobody around
That I feel you closest
Like a hand around my soul
And God, I want to run from it
But losing you feels worse somehow
You don’t even realize
What you do to me
How you make a tired man
Dream dangerously
[Verse 2]
There are days I think about leaving
Dropping all the weight I carry down
But I keep building higher walls
While secretly hoping you tear them down
You make me feel exposed
Like all the masks stopped working right
Like maybe I’ve been surviving
Instead of living my whole life
And it scares me
How peaceful your voice can make me feel
Because peace was never something
I believed was real
[Pre-Chorus]
You look at me like I’m still human
Not just what I can provide
And I think that’s why I’m terrified
You’ll see how broken I am inside
[Chorus]
It’s when the room goes quiet
When the morning hits
When exhaustion pulls the truth
Past my fingertips
That I replay your laughter
Like a prayer inside my chest
And every version of my future
Looks better if you’re in it
You don’t even realize
How deep this goes for me
How you became the one thing
I can’t control completely
[Bridge]
I tried to bury this feeling
Under work, under noise, under neon light
Tried to drown it in strangers
And endless nights
But somehow you kept reaching me
Past all the distance and doubt
And the worst part is
I think you’d still love me
If you knew everything about me now
[Final Chorus]
So when the room goes quiet
And there’s nowhere left to hide
I let myself imagine
What it’d feel like by your side
No performance
No cameras
No battle left to win
Just your heartbeat in the dark
And finally letting someone in
You feel like home
In a life that never stops moving
And maybe that’s why losing you
Feels impossible already
[Outro]
Everybody sees the spotlight
Nobody sees the cost
But you looked at me once
And somehow found
The parts I thought were lost
